Greg Dulcich
Greg Dulcich Making impression on Sean Payton
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 2:13 PM
Dulcich is healthy for offseason practices and has been making a good impression on new coach Sean Payton, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports. "[Dulcich]'s got traits that are exciting," Payton said earlier this month, "and today was one of those days where you begin to have a vision."
Analysis: Hamstring injuries cost Dulcich the first five games of his rookie season as well as the final two. In between, the 2022 third-round pick emerged as Denver's top pass catcher at tight end, averaging 4.9 targets in QB Russell Wilson's nine starts. Dulcich caught only 60 percent of his targets -- a rather low rate for a TE -- but his 33 receptions included six gains of 20-plus yards and three of 30-plus. While a favorite to lead the team's tight ends in targets again, Dulcich isn't known for blocking and may thus cede a lot of the early down snaps to Adam Trautman, Albert Okwuegbunam and/or Chris Manhertz.
Jerry Jeudy
Jerry Jeudy Hearing scheduled for Friday
Thu, May 12, 2022, 6:47 PM
Jeudy is scheduled for a hearing at 8:30 a.m. MT on Friday following his arrest Thursday in Arapahoe County (Colorado) on suspicion of criminal tampering with a domestic violence enhancer, George Stoia III of The Denver Gazette reports.
Analysis: According to Arapahoe County Sheriff Tyler Brown, "there was no physical contact" between Jeudy and the woman in question, and he has yet to be formally charged in the ongoing investigation, per Kieran Nicholson and Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post. Prior to Brown's statement, the Broncos posted one of their own, stating the team is "aware of the matter involving Jerry Jeudy and are in the process of gathering more information," according to Mike Klis of 9News Denver. Friday's appearance before a judge could shed more light on Jeudy's current legal situation.

Jerry Jeudy Arrested Thursday afternoon
Thu, May 12, 2022, 4:15 PM
Following his arrest Thursday afternoon, Jeudy is being held at the Arapahoe County (Colorado) jail on charges of second-degree criminal tampering with a domestic violence enhancer, a misdemeanor, ESPN's Jeff Legwold reports.
Analysis: Per Mike Klis of 9News Denver, the Broncos noted in a statement that they "are aware of the matter involving Jerry Jeudy and are in the process of gathering more information." The 23-year-old wideout had been a regular attendee in the team's offseason program prior to Thursday.

Jerry Jeudy High hopes for rebound in 2022
Fri, May 6, 2022, 9:51 AM
Jeudy admits Russell Wilson will help him to improve in 2022, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
Analysis: After a largely disappointing 2021 season, Jeudy has an opportunity to rebound in a big way next season with the addition of Wilson at quarterback. The deal sending the veteran signal-caller from Seattle to Denver is already paying dividends, as Jeudy has noticed Wilson's impact as a leader. "[He's] getting me better as well. He's going to help me a lot this year," the wideout said of Wilson. Additionally, head coach Nathaniel Hackett wants to use the vertical passing game more next season, which should open things up in the passing attack. With Wilson throwing the ball, Jeudy and the rest of the Broncos pass catchers have a chance to flourish in 2022.
Albert Okwuegbunam
Albert Okwuegbunam Faces competition in 2022
Fri, May 6, 2022, 8:24 AM
With the addition of rookie tight end Greg Dulcich in the third round of the draft, Okwuegbunam may find himself sharing duties at the position in 2022, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Though Okwuegbunam's starting tight end position is likely secure at this point, the addition of Dulcich through the draft could certainly cut into the veteran's playing time next season. Okwuegbunam became poised to be the Broncos' starting tight end with the departure of Noah Fant to Seattle as part of the deal to acquire Russell Wilson. Dulcich, however, caught the eye of head coach Nathaniel Hackett as an impact player. "When you have a guy that can stretch the field like he can, it's really exciting," Hackett said of the UCLA product. Regardless of how the tight end pecking order plays out in 2022, the arrival of Wilson at quarterback will likely help to elevate the fantasy production of the entire Denver pass-catching group.
Eric Saubert
Eric Saubert Earns deal with Denver
Wed, May 4, 2022, 4:12 PM
Saubert re-signed with the Broncos on a one-year deal Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Analysis: Saubert appeared in all 17 games with Denver last season, earning eight catches on 12 targets for 47 yards and a touchdown. He's also been a solid and consistent contributor on special teams for the Broncos. With the departure of Noah Fant to Seattle, but the acquisition of Eric Tomlinson in free agency, and the selection of Greg Dulcich in the third round of the 2022 Draft, Saubert could be fighting for a roster spot in training camp.
Adds to Mile High secondary
Sat, Apr 30, 2022, 4:53 PM
The Broncos selected Brown in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 232nd overall.
Analysis: Hicks becomes the third secondary player to be drafted by the Broncos in Day 3. A quick and rangy corner, Hicks never recorded an interception during his four-year collegiate career at Wisconsin, but he was a tackle compiler tallying over 100 since 2018. Expect Hicks to be a special teams contributor provided he makes the roster.
Heads to Mile High City
Sat, Apr 30, 2022, 3:52 PM
The Broncos selected Henningsen in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 206th overall.
Analysis: Per Dane Brugler of the Athletic, Henningson became the first freshman walk on and start the season opener for Wisconsin in nearly 30 years. He moved into a full-time starting role as a redshirt senior in 2021 and racked up 33 tackles and three sacks. Henningsen has useful athleticism for his position and can develop into a rotational piece on the defensive line.
Denver adds in fifth round
Sat, Apr 30, 2022, 2:17 PM
The Broncos selected Wattenberg in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 171st overall.
Analysis: Wattenberg (6-foot-4, 299 pounds) is a bit light out of Washington, but he has exceptional reach (34 and 1/8-inch arms) to go with standout tested athleticism. His 40 (5.2 seconds), vertical (29.5 inches), broad jump (113 inches) and agility drills were all safely above average for centers. The Broncos already have Lloyd Cushenberry at center, so Wattenberg will probably be a guard or swing backup for Denver.
Mile High bound
Sat, Apr 30, 2022, 1:52 PM
The Broncos selected Washington in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 162nd overall.
Analysis: This is a surprise pick as Washington did not get a combine invite after playing at Samford out of the FCS, while there were several other higher rated players at his position available. Washington checks in at 5-foot-9 and 181 pounds with 4.45 speed. He caught 60 passes for 813 yards and nine touchdowns in his final season at Samford and will have an uphill battle getting on the field in Denver.
Goes to Denver in Round 5
Sat, Apr 30, 2022, 1:28 PM
The Broncos selected Turner-Yell in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 152nd overall.
Analysis: A bit undersized at 5-foot-10, 197 pounds, Turnell-Yell was a three-year starter at Oklahoma, registering four interceptions over the last two years. He's a plus tackler, particularly in the box, and has the vision to make plays in the air, but both of those skills might not translate at the NFL level given his size. It's possible the Broncos could transition Turner-Yell to cornerback at some point in the near future.
Depth piece for Denver
Sat, Apr 30, 2022, 11:42 AM
The Broncos selected Uwazurike in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 116th overall.
Analysis: Uwazurike is a hulking defensive lineman that likely fits best as a three-technique given his 5.32 40-yard dash. The 6-foot-6 Iowa State product did register nine sacks last season en route to All-Big 12 honors, but as a primary inside tackle, Uwazurike might find his best value in the NFL as a special teams/field-goal blocking specialist (two blocked field goals in college).
Denver adds in fourth round
Sat, Apr 30, 2022, 11:38 AM
The Broncos selected Mathis in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 115th overall.
Analysis: This looks like a solid pick for Denver. Mathis (5-foot-11, 196 pounds) is a well-built corner who played a leading role in Pittsburgh's strong pass defense, and he posted some of the best workout numbers among the cornerbacks at the combine. His 4.39-second 40 and long arms (31 and 7/8 inches) make Mathis an interesting press outside corner.
Broncos-bound in third round
Fri, Apr 29, 2022, 9:24 PM
The Broncos selected Dulcich in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 80th overall.
Analysis: Dulcich (6-foot-4, 243 pounds) probably won't be able to give the Broncos many quality in-line reps, and he's not a standout athlete (4.7-second 40, 34-inch broad jump). However, the UCLA product is a skilled receiver and could make a pass-catching impact in the NFL if his athleticism proves sufficient. For the time being, he will likely play in a reserve role behind Albert Okwuegbunam, who is much bigger and faster than Dulcich.
Rocky Mountain bound
Fri, Apr 29, 2022, 8:33 PM
The Broncos selected Bonitto in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 64th overall.
Analysis: Bonitto looks like a nice pick for the Broncos this late, because his production and athletic metrics grade similarly to players picked in the first round. The Oklahoma edge rusher posted seven sacks and 15 tackles for loss in 12 games last year, his third season as a starter for the Sooners. He also enjoyed a strong combine showing, logging a 4.54-second 40-yard dash at 6-foot-3, 248 pounds. He might be Denver's long-term replacement for Bradley Chubb if they choose to not re-sign him.
Melvin Gordon
Melvin Gordon Officially signs with Denver
Thu, Apr 28, 2022, 7:36 AM
Gordon signed a one-year, $2.5 million base deal with the Broncos on Wednesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Analysis: The veteran running back has a chance to make up to $4 million with incentives, though it was previously reported that the contract could be worth up to $5 million. As the figures were clarified Thursday, it appears that the duo of Gordon and Javonte Williams are likely headed toward some sort of split in workload out of the backfield once again in 2022. Both backs found success in what was an inconsistent offense last season. The addition of Russell Wilson at quarterback could be the spark that both Gordon and Williams need to take their fantasy potential to the next level, even if they continue to share duties at a near-even split again.
Joins Broncos
Wed, Apr 27, 2022, 2:18 PM
Austin signed a contract with the Broncos on Wednesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Analysis: Austin's addition to the Broncos secondary comes after a three-day audition during their recent minicamp. The former Rutgers product appeared in 11 games for the Seahawks last season and recorded 10 tackles (eight solo), which was a career low. Austin will likely provide depth at corner for the Broncos in 2022.
Javonte Williams
Javonte Williams Set to share work with Gordon again
Wed, Apr 27, 2022, 10:21 AM
Williams will be paired with Melvin Gordon in the backfield once again 2022 after the Broncos re-signed Gordon to a one-year deal Tuesday, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Prior to Denver bringing back Gordon, Williams seemed positioned to see a big boost in his workload this coming season, but a timeshare arrangement could now be back in play. Both players logged 203 carries in 2021, and while there should be enough touches for the two to remain fantasy relevant, Williams' ceiling is nonetheless hampered by the continued presence of the capable Gordon. Of the two, Williams profiles as the upside play, but as long as his veteran counterpart is available, the 2021 second-round pick's volume figures to be capped.
Melvin Gordon
Melvin Gordon Rejoins Denver on one-year deal
Tue, Apr 26, 2022, 9:52 PM
Gordon agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $5 million with the Broncos on Tuesday, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
Analysis: The 29-year-old will return to Denver another year after rushing for 918 yards and eight touchdowns in 16 games last season. He also caught 28 passes for 213 yards and two more scores. Gordon should still be fairly involved in 2022 but figures to have a reduced role after splitting work with Javonte Williams last year, who also received 203 carries during his rookie campaign. However, it remains to be seen exactly how their workloads shake out in 2022 with Russell Wilson now helming the offense.
Doesn't practice Tuesday
Tue, Apr 26, 2022, 3:19 PM
Purcell (undisclosed) didn't practice Tuesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Analysis: Purcell was one of a handful of core pieces who was sidelined Tuesday, but his absence isn't expected to be due to a long-term issue. The veteran defensive tackle notched 33 tackles, one pass deflection and one fumble recovery across 13 appearances last season.
